This short Training Module shows electricial contractors how to test sockets in seconds without cumbersome trailing leads using the InstalTest Combo. The "socket test" performs earth continuity, polarity and correct connections tests using the InstalTest Combo's 5ohm and 10ohm resistor box connected at the switchboard. The InstalTest Combo simplifies socket compliance testing by reducing the number of tests required from 4 tests to a single push button with Pass/Fail indication. The InstalTest Combo offers electrical contractors a next generation installation testing tool that will guarantee faster faultfinding and provide more accountability when compliance testing new circuits and installations according to state electricity safety regulations and AS/NZS3000 Wiring Rules. |

Australia’s switchboard thermal survey business is growing and is no longer the exclusive domain of thermography consultants using high priced equipment and charging clients up to $1,500 per day. Today, switchboard surveys are a routine inspection carried out by electrical contractors armed with a modestly priced new generation switchboard survey camera system and appropriate training under their belt. Electrical contractors are finding that they can grow their business by offering switchboard thermal surveys to their existing clients and to attract new clients. This application note describes the procedures in AS/NZS3019:2007 on how thermal inspections of switchboards should be carried out and what features electrical contractors should look for in a thermal imaging camera for this application.
